In case you missed it ...

This is a little solo piece called Greensleeves. What I'm going to do with this is break it up into phrases and then put it all together for you.

We start with our fingers of our left hand on an Am Chord. Picking the A note out of the chord which is the note my third finger is on. I pick my A note... and strung from my A string, which is my 5th string down to my second string...

From our Am we go to a D note, which is on the third fret of the B string... and then play our Am again...from the D string down to the top E...

So our first phrase is...one more time...

The first two notes of our second phrase is F# to open E, F# to open E. Next part of the second phase we are going to play a triad, three notes. We are going to play our open D, our open G and our D note... followed by our open B and G together...

Now followed by a little run, simple G, A, D...open G, A, D...

So our second phrase...let's put phrase one and two together...

Ok, phrase 3, I'm now going to play my Am chord again from the A string down to the C note, which is on my B string first fret... Followed by an A note ... and I'm only going to play the A, the E and the A of the Am chord the second time around. So it is Am, A note, A, E and A notes...

Following that we play a G# to an A.

Let's take a look at the third phrase...

Our next phrase is going to start on an E chord... I achieve that simply by playing my E chord, leaving my fingers on playing my G string, D string, G string and open B string...

So here is the fourth phrase...

Let me put all together for you. Phrase 1... Phrase 2... Phrase 3 and phrase 4. We then repeat phrase 1 without the A note at the beginning so we just go straight into the Am... phrase 2...

So if I play through the whole thing up to this point, this is what we have...

Finishing off with our Am chord playing from A string down to our B string..., open B, A, G#, F# using my forth finger, back to G#, place your fingers on the Am chord, play the A note, and then the Am chord and finishing with the final A.

Am Chord, B, A, G#, F#, G#, A, Am again, finishing with our A...

So putting the whole thing together, this is what we'll end up with...

And that's part 1 of Greensleeves.
