In case you missed it ...

This is our third lick in the style of Buddy Guy. It starts off in our tonic pentatonic position, and moves into our third pentatonic position. I'll take you through those shapes, so let's check it out.

So the two scale shapes that this lick is based around, first scale starts on C which is on the 8th fret using my second finger, and the shape is
2, 4
1, 4
1, 4
1, 3 (shift up)
1, 3
1, 3
...

We then go into our major pentatonic scale starting on the third degree, which is starting on our E note on the 12th fret, and we're playing
1,4
1,4
1,3
1,3
2,4
1,4
...

Both of those scales are our C Major pentatonic scales ... third degree ...

Now the lick starts with the sliding of my second finger on the G string up into what we call the 9th fret here and first finger down on the B string on the 8th fret, then my third finger on the B string again up on the 10th. First finger on the 8th fret of the E string...

I then I'm going to take my first finger and slide all the way up to the 12th fret which will get me into that third degree position of my C pentatonic scale...

Fourth finger comes down onto the B string on fret 15th ... and my second finger is going to land on fret 13th, also on the B string.

Third finger, 14th fret on the G ... back to 13th fret with my second finger on the B ... and then I'm going to bend my B string on the 15th a full tone...

Another little thing I should mention is the lick starts on the off beat. If we're counting through you'd be playing like 1, 2, 3, 4. You don't come in on the on beat, on the down beat 1, 2, 3, 4& (and!). You can do your slide on the & of the beat: 1, 2, 3, 4&.

So we get ...

Let's put on a backing track, I'll play the lick a few times and you can try to play with me.
...
Now you ...
...
Now you ...
...
Away you go...

Ok, so that completes our third lick in the style of Buddy Guy. Probably a good thing to do is to play along with a jam track and include the other licks that we've done in previous lessons. Hope you've had a lot of fun and see you next time.
